Vegan Is Not The Way To Go!

Veganism is the practice of not consuming any animal products.

It has gained a lot of popularity in recent years. It's the latest trend among our millennials. Practitioners of veganism often voice out their disgust for the meat-consuming population, and they can be found riding on their soy-based moral high horse.

The debate on this topic has seen a surge in recent years, and people, now more than ever, are divided on the subject.

There are millions of blogs spread across the internet telling you why you should go vegan, and why it's better, but I'd urge you to not read them.

Veganism is one of the most poorly conceived practices humans have developed in recent years.

That's not to say veganism is bad. It is good, in some very specific cases, but as a race, humans ought to let go of their vegan tendencies.

Evolution, for one, agrees with this blog. Humans evolved to be omnivores, and we have canines. These canines are designed to tear through the flesh of animals. Our biology evolved to have animal meat as a source of food.

Other species, like cows and deer, did not develop canines because their diet is not supposed to comprise other animals.

The consumption of other animals, like poultry, beef, and pork has been our way of sustenance for as long as we have existed on this planet.

Today, we have people telling us that those who consume animals are monsters. If they'd just keep to themselves and let us live, that would have been perfect, but vegans have the tendency of preaching veganism like some religious cult.

Organizations like PETA and some celebrities take it to the next level. If an individual wants to refrain themselves from the joy of putting a medium-rare rib-eye in their mouths, they are free to do so. But why go around stopping other people from living?

Farm animals like beef and poultry are bred to be consumed. They are raised and fed to be used as a food source for humans. Sure that sounds inhumane, but get this: the current chicken population in the world clocks in at over 23,000,000,000. If we stopped eating them, we'd be living through a chicken apocalypse. There's an ecological order in place, and that puts us in a place where we are required to be predators to species like chicken and cows. If we were to disturb the balance, we'd be in trouble.

And even if we look past all of this, one fact still irks me. Vegans pretend to be non-vegan. For example, if you go to a vegan restaurant, or look up a vegan cookbook, you'll see stuff like Vegan burgers, meat-free steak, and other substitutes that aim to deliver the same taste and experience.

If you have eaten a vegan steak, you'll agree when I say they are atrocious, but besides that, the fact that people aim to have the experience of animal flesh even when condemning those who consume it speaks to our standpoint on the issue. Even when we don't consume animal products, we want the same thing; because our body is wired to want that.

I do not condone animal cruelty, if needed, I'd go out to protest against poaching today, but things like rearing wool from sheep, eating eggs, milk, chicken, and using rats for experiments is a necessity. Sane humans don't put innocent animals through unnecessary pain. They have just as many rights as us when it comes to freedom.

And after what humans do to each other, are we qualified to point fingers at those who just want to have a nice cheeseburger?

Lying Makes Us Truthful

We have something called the herd-mentality, which essentially means that we like social things. We like staying together, doing things with others of our kind, and finding happiness in the existence of other people with us. For as long as we have existed, we have been this way. Humans started off as hunter-gatherers because it ensured the survival of our race back then. As we progressed through time, this trait of being together and being happy was imbued into us. When we find our people, we are happy. We do things with them and find happiness in doing so. If our people see us as the odd one out, or they see us as a threat, we lose their validation, and our brain screams "existential threat" When our actions or who we are, fails to be validated by those we consider to be a part of our creed, i.e. humans, we desperately look for ways to win back their favor. One of those ways happens to be lying. Lying is basically withholding information, or telling something that is made up...

Motivation Much?

We often bank on being motivated to get something done, and the inadequacy of it poses us with a scenario where we have work that we need to do, but do not. Now, as is customary with this blog, I would like to bring another perspective to the table: Motivation is never the problem. Once I have explained myself, it will appear to be painfully evident, and yet something elusive to most of us. Let me paint a picture: You are a student. You have a deadline for an assignment coming up in a few weeks, and you have done no work on it. You know that to avoid the sleepless nights of excruciating hardship, you must start now. And yet, something keeps you from doing so. Instead of working on it, you make yourself believe that there is time and you will get it done. With that belief, you go out with your friends to the bar or spend the night at your girlfriend’s place. You get to the assignment, but you only do so when you are forced to face the music and you have no other o...

Not Everyone Deserves to be Happy.

Do you know what the most ancient piece of storytelling is?  It is a poem from ancient Mesopotamia called the ‘Epic of Gilgamesh’ It tells the story of a king, who despite being a demigod, struggled his entire life to find meaning in his existence. And when his end came, he realized it was nothing but an endless march towards a tomorrow that never actually showed up. Now more than ever, equal rights, equal opportunities, mental well-being, and fulfillment in one’s personal and professional life are crucial to the livelihood of humans. And while an otherwise beautiful thing, it is also a joyful way of journeying on a path towards something grim. The premise of today’s discussion: Not everyone deserves to be happy.  This may seem like a blasphemous thing to say, wishing evil for your fellow man, but deep down, we all know this argument has some merit. Look at something very banal: Everyone in this world leads different lives, we do, feel and experience things differently; we acc...
